Jurassic World Rebirth (2025) was filmed largely in southern Thailand, with its dinosaur-island world built from the real limestone seascapes of Ao Phang Nga National Park, Krabi and the Andaman coast. The most recognisable on-screen locations include Khao Ta Pu (James Bond Island) and the karst islands of Koh Song Phi Nong and Koh Naka in Phang Nga Bay; the cliff-ringed lagoon of Hong Island; Huai To Waterfall in Krabi’s Khao Phanom Bencha National Park; and Sunset Beach on Koh Kradan with the Emerald (Morakot) Cave in Trang. The best part for travellers: most of the marine locations are not film-set fiction — they’re real, protected islands you can visit, and the most rewarding way to reach the Phang Nga and Krabi ones is by boat from Phuket.
We have a particular soft spot for this film: Simba Sea Trips was on the water in Phang Nga Bay during the production, supporting the shoot with our vessels (more on that in our behind-the-scenes story). So when we say these locations are special, it’s not from a trailer — it’s from being out there while the cameras rolled. The thing screen audiences don’t realise is how close together these places are by sea, and how much quieter they feel at the right time of day. The bay that looks wild and remote on film is, in reality, a calm morning’s run from our Boat Lagoon base.
The Phang Nga Bay locations (closest to Phuket)
Ao Phang Nga National Park supplied the film’s signature towering-karst seascapes:
- Khao Ta Pu (James Bond Island) — the famous leaning limestone needle, a screen veteran long before Rebirth.
- Koh Song Phi Nong (Two Brothers Island) & Koh Naka — dramatic karst islands used for the film’s island-world scenery.
- The hongs and sea caves — the hidden lagoons and cliff cathedrals that give the bay its lost-world feel.

The Krabi locations
- Hong Island — its near-circular cliff-ringed lagoon features in sweeping aerial shots. It’s a centrepiece of our Krabi Luxury Private Charter (from ฿41,690* for the boat), which crosses directly from Phuket by sea.
- Koh Pak Bia & Koh Lao Lading — the quieter islands beside Hong (in the same Than Bok Khorani group) in the area scouted for the film’s RIB escape sequence. Both sit on our Krabi charter’s cruising grounds.
- Mangrove tributaries around Krabi town — the tidal mangrove waterways near Krabi town stood in for the film’s swamp scenes.
- Huai To Waterfall, Khao Phanom Bencha National Park — an inland, multi-tiered waterfall used for jungle scenes (reached by land from Krabi town).
The Trang locations (further south)
- Koh Kradan (Sunset Beach) — the setting for one of the film’s memorable beaching moments, and the Emerald Cave (Tham Morakot) in Hat Chao Mai National Park, a swim-through sea cave that opens into a hidden beach. These sit well south of Phuket in Trang province and are typically visited from Koh Lanta or Trang rather than on a Phuket day trip.
A note on spotting the real locations
Here’s something we can tell you from being on the water during the shoot: the film’s landscapes are heavily enhanced. Jurassic World Rebirth digitally embellishes and composites its settings, so what you see on screen is a stylised, dinosaur-era version of these places rather than a literal one — which makes pinning a frame to an exact real-world spot genuinely tricky, even for those of us who were there. The locations below are the ones reliably tied to the production; other Andaman spots (around Railay and the Phang Nga sea caves) have been reported too, but the visual effects make exact identification a moving target. The good news: the real places are every bit as striking in person — no CGI required.
